DE based economic control chart design and application for a typical petrochemical process

摘要: Petrochemical industry plays an important role in the development of the national economy. Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) is one of the most important intermediate raw materials in the petrochemical and chemical fiber industries. PTA production has two parts: -xylene (PX) oxidation process and crude terephthalic acid (CTA) hydropurification process. The CTA hydropurification process is used to reduce impurities, such as 4-carboxybenzaldehyde, which is produced by a side reaction in the PX oxidation process and is harmful to the polyester industry. From the safety and economic viewpoints, monitoring this process is necessary. Four main faults of this process are analyzed in this study. The common process monitoring methods always use and SPE statistic as control limits. However, the traditional methods do not fully consider the economic viewpoint. In this study, a new economic control chart design method based on the differential evolution (DE) algorithm is developed. The DE algorithm transforms the economic control chart design problem to an optimization problem and is an excellent solution to such problem. Case studies of the main faults of the hydropurification process indicate that the proposed method can achieve minimum profit loss. This method is useful in economic control chart design and can provide guidance for the petrochemical industry.

摘要: Industrial safety and economic growth, two vital and inextricable forces affecting national culture and development, are worthy of much more interest and attention than this article can hope to generate. Following economic growth, industrial safety remains as a high priority in this nation’s quest for sustainable development. At present, while China is on its way to transforming its economic structure and growth models, talk of industrial safety appears with special regularity, for it also is undergoing profound changes as an important facet of modern China.

Statistical process control with intelligence using fuzzy ART neural networks

摘要: With the automation development of manufacturing processes, artificial intelligence technology has been gradually employed to increase the automation and intelligence degree in quality control using statistical process control (SPC) method. In this paper, an SPC method based on a fuzzy adaptive resonance theory (ART) neural network is presented. The fuzzy ART neural network is applied to recognize the special disturbance of the manufacturing processes based on the classification on the histograms, which shows that the fuzzy ART neural network can adaptively learn the features of the histograms of the quality parameters in manufacturing processes. As a result, the special disturbance can be automatically detected when a feature of the special disturbance starts to appear in the histograms. At the same time, combined with spectrum analysis of the autoregressive model of quality parameters, the fuzzy ART neural network can also be utilized to adaptively detect the abnormal patterns in the control chart.

Carbon payments in the Guanzhong–Tianshui region to control land degradation

摘要: Carbon trading and carbon offset markets are potential policy options for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. A price on carbon is expected to generate demand for carbon offsets. In a market-based framework, the carbon price should be high enough to compensate for opportunity costs. We studied a highly-modified agricultural system in the Guanzhong–Tianshui economic region of China that is typical of many temperate agricultural zones in western China. We quantified the economic returns from agriculture and from carbon plantings (both monoculture and ecological plantings) under five carbon-price scenarios. The mean carbon sequestration is 34 Mg·hm ·a , and the average annual payment increased to 1146 CNY·hm at a medium carbon price of 50 CNY·Mg CO . Thus, areas of high priority for conservation and restoration may be restored relatively cheaply in the presence of a carbon market. Overall, however, less carbon is sequestered by ecological plantings (i.e., mixed native trees and shrubs) compared to agriculture.

Techno-economic assessment of providing control energy reserves with a biogas plant

Grid stability is being challenged by the increasing integration of power plants with volatile power generation into the energy system. Power supply fluctuations must be compensated by energy system flexibility. The storability of the energy carrier enables biogas plants to generate power flexibly. In this study, the technical and economic effects of providing positive secondary control energy reserves with an Austrian biogas plant were assessed. The plant’s main focus lies in biomethane production with the option of heat and power generation through combined heat and power (CHP) units. A detailed simulation model of the investigated biogas plant was developed, which is presented in this work. Ex-post simulations of one year of flexible plant operation were conducted with this model. The findings show that the installed biogas storage capacity is sufficient to provide control energy reserves while simultaneously producing biomethane. Profitability of providing control energy reserves largely depends on the prices at the control energy market and on CHP unit start-up costs. A cost efficiency analysis demonstrated that investing in a hot water tank with a volume of 5 m3 for short-term heat storage turned out to be economically viable.

一种基于辅助信息的新型位置监测累积和中值控制图 Regular Papers

摘要: 控制图能检测过程参数变化,是统计过程控制常用工具。休哈特控制图能有效监测大位移,而累积和(CUSUM)控制图能有效监测中、小位移。控制图在使用时通常假定数据无异常值,并且参数已知或已正确估计。实际应用中,某些过程偶尔出现异常值,所以这些假设通常不成立。位置参数监测通常基于均值控制图,严重受不成立假设影响。本文提出几种基于辅助变量的累积和中值控制图,并与其相对应均值控制图进行比较。为监测位置参数,分别检测包含与不含异常值时均值和中值控制图性能。研究对称与非对称过程,并利用累积和控制图监测位置参数,进一步研究所提控制图性能。基于不同运行链长,研究受控和非受控累积和控制图性能。结果表明,存在异常值时,所提控制图比传统控制图性能更优。最后,提供了一个基于混凝土抗压强度与生产质量关系的应用实例。

Temperature effects of shape memory alloys (SMAs) in damage control design of steel portal frames

摘要: The objective of the present study is to analytically investigate temperature effects of an axial-type seismic damper made of shape memory alloys (SMAs) equipped in steel frames. Based on a modified multilinear one dimensional constitutive model of SMAs, two types of SMAs are employed, which have different stress plateau and different stress growth rate with temperature increase. Temperature effects of SMA dampers on seismic performance upgrading are discussed in three aspects: different environment temperatures; rapid loading rate induced heat generation and different SMA fractions. The analysis indicates that the effect of environment temperature should be considered for the SMA damper in steel frames. However, the rapid loading rate induced heat generation has little adverse effect.

Design and control optimization of energy systems of smart buildings today and in the near future

摘要: Buildings contribute to a major part of energy consumption in urban areas, especially in areas like Hong Kong which is full of high-rise buildings. Smart buildings with high efficiency can reduce the energy consumption largely and help achieve green cities or smart cities. Design and control optimization of building energy systems therefore plays a significant role to obtain the optimal performance. This paper introduces a general methodology for the design and control optimization of building energy systems in the life cycle. When the design scheme of building energy systems is optimized, primary steps and related issues are introduced. To improve the operation performance, the optimal control strategies that can be used by different systems are presented and key issues are discussed. To demonstrate the effect of the methods, the energy system of a high-rise building is introduced. The design on the chilled water pump system and cooling towers is improved. The control strategies for chillers, pumps and fresh air systems are optimized. The energy saving and cost from the design and control optimization methods are analyzed. The presented methodology will provide users and stakeholders an effective approach to improve the energy efficiency of building energy systems and promote the development of smart buildings and smart cities.

A hybrid LQR-PID control design for seismic control of buildings equipped with ATMD

摘要: This paper presents an efficient hybrid control approach through combining the idea of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) control algorithm. The proposed LQR-PID controller, while having the advantage of the classical PID controller, is easy to implement in seismic-excited structures. Using an optimization procedure based on a cuckoo search (CS) algorithm, the LQR-PID controller is designed for a seismic- excited structure equipped with an active tuned mass damper (ATMD). Considering four earthquakes, the performance of the proposed LQR-PID controller is evaluated. Then, the results are compared with those given by a LQR controller. The simulation results indicate that the LQR-PID performs better than the LQR controller in reduction of seismic responses of the structure in the terms of displacement and acceleration of stories of the structure.

本文研究了知识在人类设计一切有目的活动中的行为,分析了设计中知识的流动和在竞争中的完整化即进化,论证了创新和设计的关系以及创新和设计的知识本质。提出了设计是以已有知识为基础、设计是以新知识获取为中心、设计知识具有不完整性、竞争性等基本规律和基本特征,认为要依赖创新推动经济增长方式的转变,知识行为研究应该是设计科学的重要命题。

Parametric study on damage control design of SMA dampers in frame-typed steel piers

摘要: This paper focuses on damage control design of SMA dampers in steel frame piers. A parametric study based on time history analyses is carried out on frame-typed bridge piers with axial-type SMA damping device. The parameters examined are design parameters of strength ratio and stiffness ratio . Seismic performance indexes on displacement and strain are investigated under three JRA recommended Level 2 Ground Type П strong earthquake motions. Design recommendations are suggested following the results of the parametric study.

Design, analysis, and neural control of a bionic parallel mechanism

摘要: Although the torso plays an important role in the movement coordination and versatile locomotion of mammals, the structural design and neuromechanical control of a bionic torso have not been fully addressed. In this paper, a parallel mechanism is designed as a bionic torso to improve the agility, coordination, and diversity of robot locomotion. The mechanism consists of 6-degree of freedom actuated parallel joints and can perfectly simulate the bending and stretching of an animal’s torso during walking and running. The overall spatial motion performance of the parallel mechanism is improved by optimizing the structural parameters. Based on this structure, the rhythmic motion of the parallel mechanism is obtained by supporting state analysis. The neural control of the parallel mechanism is realized by constructing a neuromechanical network, which merges the rhythmic signals of the legs and generates the locomotion of the bionic parallel mechanism for different motion patterns. Experimental results show that the complete integrated system can be controlled in real time to achieve proper limb–torso coordination. This coordination enables several different motions with effectiveness and good performance.

Multidisciplinary co-design optimization of structural and control parameters for bucket wheel reclaimer

摘要: Bucket wheel reclaimer (BWR) is an extremely complex engineering machine that involves multiple disciplines, such as structure, dynamics, and electromechanics. The conventional design strategy, namely, sequential strategy, is structural design followed by control optimization. However, the global optimal solution is difficult to achieve because of the discoordination of structural and control parameters. The co-design strategy is explored to address the aforementioned problem by combining the structural and control system design based on simultaneous dynamic optimization approach. The radial basis function model is applied for the planning of the rotation speed considering the relationships of subsystems to minimize the energy consumption per volume. Co-design strategy is implemented to resolve the optimization problem, and numerical results are compared with those of sequential strategy. The dynamic response of the BWR is also analyzed with different optimization strategies to evaluate the advantages of the strategies. Results indicate that co-design strategy not only can reduce the energy consumption of the BWR but also can achieve a smaller vibration amplitude than the sequential strategy.

提出并论述了在大系统中跨学科、跨行业、跨地区实行工程总量控制的新工程管理思想,其在产业结构调整和科技驱动创新等方面促进了经济发展方式的转变。以中央水利工作会议确定的水资源开发、利用和保护的三条红线及笔者在北京、上海主持或参与制定的工程规划为例,为生态文明美丽中国建设对改变水环境、保证水资源的工程总量控制做了定量分析,供各类工程总量控制参考。
